Department of Physics was established in the year 1939. The department has been working towards fulfilling its mission through teaching the basic concepts of Physics to first year diploma students. Faculty members of the department are actively involved in teaching, research and consultancy work. The syllabi impart both technical and practical knowledge to the students in the field of Physics by focusing the content of the syllabus towards electrical, mechanical and textile streams. The students are given training in analytical methods and are taught about the concepts which will be useful for their further studies.
The mission of the Department of Physics is to impart fundamental knowledge of physical science in Engineering and Technology to equip the students
The vision of the Department of Physics is to be an excellence in the field of physical science wherein the students are made competent to understand the fundamental concepts in technical education and foster their skill development.

Physics laboratory is offered to the Polytechnic students exposing them to different practical concepts which help them to understand the significance of basic concepts related to Physics. The syllabi impart practical knowledge to the students by focusing the content of the syllabus towards electrical, mechanical and textile streams. Physics laboratory is well equipped with good infrastructure and necessary equipments to effectively conduct lab courses to the polytechnic students.
