About Us

The Department of Foundry Technology was established in the year 1996 to cater the man power and R & D development to local foundries. The need for-specialized foundry technicians was felt in late 1990's when the small and medium foundries in Coimbatore started coming.

Mission

The mission of department of foundry technology is to expose students to industrial requirements by:

  • Curriculum development fostering industrial needs
  • Encouraging students to be Entrepreneurs
  • Undertaking industrial projects

Vision

Department of Foundry Technology aspires to accomplish national recognition in the field of foundry and materials engineering by imparting technical skills to students and industries towards development of society.

Develop an ability to apply fundamental concepts of science, metallurgy and foundry engineering necessary to formulate, analyse and handle production challenges in foundry industries.

Develop the ability to select a casting process and design of casting to manufacture the given components according to the specifications and requirements.

Prepare their ability to study, evaluate and modify existing materials and related processes that are economical and eco-friendly for foundries.

Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
